For example, to achieve a flow rate of 200 slpm with a competitor's valve requires approximately 5 W of power versus only 2 W with the pressure balanced valve. This reduction in power demand significantly improves the battery life of a portable product and also decreases the heat generated by the valve.
Other advantages of this design are obvious, like the balanced valve disks do prevent undesirable pipe hammers, especially if the direction of flow is reversed (valve is closed in direction of flow), thus further improving process reliability.
The PRV's balanced valve design is unaffected by system back pressure up to 50 percent of the valve's set pres sure.
By employing the "Balanced Valve Concept" operation of these regulators are highly accurate and responsive plus they are quieter and require less maintenance.
